PHILADELPHIA - Brian Underwood ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns and Troy Davidson's interception with 32 seconds remaining helped Maryland hold on for a 24-21 victory over Temple.

Underwood scored the game's first touchdown on a 37-yard run, then took it in from three yards out to give the Terrapins a 24-14 lead with 3:22 left in the third quarter.

Stacey Mack's three-yard touchdown run pulled the Owls (1-3) within a field goal with 11:16 to play and Temple had one final drive late in the game, starting from its own 12. Pat Bonner hit Mack on a 30-yard pass with less than a minute to go, but his next attempt was picked off by Davidson on the left sideline and Maryland (1-3) ran out the clock.

Underwood fumbled earlier in the fourth quarter and Temple recovered at its own 49-yard line with just over 10 minutes remaining. Bonner, who had a one-yard TD run in the second quarter, drove the Owls to the 1 but fumbled the snap on 1st-and-goal and the Terrapins recovered.

Lamont Jordan rushed for 135 yards on 21 carries and Brian Cummings passed for 71 yards and a touchdown for Maryland, which forced seven Temple turnovers and gave coach Ron Vanderlinden his first win.

Bonner was 11-for-22 for 203 yards with four interceptions, including three by Lewis Sanders. Mack rushed for 90 yards and two scores.
