- Academic Achievement Award (2012)
As a Junior (2013): Earned the EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year award ... competed in 10 meets on bars and six on beam.
As a Sophomore (2012): Competed on bars in 13 meets, and on beam in 11 meets...named to All-EAGL bars second team...scored a career-high 9.800 twice on bars, most recently against Rutgers, West Virginia and William and Mary (2/18)...scored scored a 9.775 or higher on bars in six meets...named to the EAGL All-Academic team...received the Iron Terp Award at the team banquet.
As a Freshman (2011): Competed on beam in all 13 meets, in vault in two and in bars in the final five...twice recorded a career-high 9.825 on beam on Feb. 12 and Mar. 13...had eight scores of 9.750 or higher in 2011...recipient of the Dynamite Beam Award at the annual team banquet...named to the EAGL All-Academic team.
Before Maryland: Competed at North Stars Gymnastics Academy in Booton, N.J., from 2004-2010...finished third in the all-around at Eastern Nationals in Nashville, Tenn., in 2006...twice qualified for Level 10 nationals...won beam and was 16th in the all-around at the 2009 Level 10 nationals...finished top three in every event at 2010 New Jersey Level 10 state championship, including titles on beam and in the all-around...won floor and was third on beam and in the all-around at 2010 regionals...at 2010 Level 10 nationals, finished top-20 on beam, floor and all-around...served as team captain in 2009-2010 season...National Honor Society member...also competed for high school's team...won the all-around in 2006 and was first team all-state 2006-2010.
Personal: Elizabethe Katherine Manzi...daughter of Mauro and Carol Manzi...sister, Jenelle, is a student at Fordham and dances for New York City Ballet Company...names winning Level 10 beam at 2009 nationals as biggest athletics thrill...came to Maryland for awesome gymnastics team, great coaches and a high quality of education...also recruited by Washington, Rutgers, Cornell, Penn, Brown, Yale and Illinois...eats peanut butter and jelly before meets.
