|"Student-Athlete Welcome Back Barbeque"
A fun and engaging social event sponsored by the Athletics Department to welcome back student-athletes while celebrating the beginning of a new academic/athletic year. University of Maryland President, Dr. Wallace Loh and Director of Athletics Kevin Anderson will address the student-athletes and share in the fun and games planned for this event. Head coaches and SAAC representatives will also be introduced.

|CARE To Stop Violence
*Required workshop for all first-year and transfer student-athletes
CARE coordinator’s, Fatima Burns and Stephanie Rivero, along with peer educators will speak with student-athletes on issues surrounding bystander intervention, relationship violence and sexual assaults on campus. The goal of the seminar is to increase awareness of sexual assault and relationship violence while educating student-athletes on what steps they can take if they are involved or witness either situation. Objective(s): Student-athletes should be able to identify campus resources and cite 1-3 bystander intervention options.

|"Choices Matter Program"
Each individual sport team and its student-athletes are required to complete the Choices Matter Program as presented by the University of Maryland Health Center. The program will help identify the ways in which alcohol and other drugs may impact performance in both the classroom and in the athletic arena. Consequences associated with alcohol and drug use will be covered including possible sanctions on campus. In addition, topics ranging from sexual health to sexual diseases will be discussed. These meeting are typically held at the University Health Center. Objective(s): Student-athletes should be able to identify campus resources and basic information pertaining to alcohol consumption and sexual education.

|"Financial Literacy "
Ken Handy, an alum and local financial advisor will share the basics of financial budget management while also delving into the ups and downs of living in a major metropolitan area. Participants will develop a mock monthly budget plan in order to maximize living on an entry-level salary. Objective(s): Student-athletes should be able to list 3-5 budgetary categories that occur after graduation.

This event is limited to juniors and seniors. Student-athletes will receive an invitation from The M Club and University of Maryland Alumni Association who sponsor the dinner. A certified Etiquette Specialist will educate student-athletes on the finer points of navigating a fine dining experience. Student-athletes will be able to learn and practice the basic rules of dining and professional etiquette in a fun and highly interactive environment. Objective(s): Student-athletes will be able to identify the etiquette basics.

Please join your very own ASCDU team members as they educate freshmen student-athletes how to effectively deal with the stress of final examinations. In addition, they will also hold an open discussion while reviewing the finer points of how to best prepare for finals exams while effectively managing time. Objective(s): Student-athletes should be able to list 3 items that will help them in test preparation.
