Spring 2010: Saw action in six tournaments in the spring ... Carded a low round 70 on the first day of Rehoboth Spring Invite, leading the Terps to their second straight title at the tournament ... Finished in a tie for fourth at Rehoboth after remaining even with par for a 142 (70-72) ... Also earned a top-10 finish at C&F Bank Intercollegiate, coming in a tie for sixth ... Posted a two round score of one-over-par 143 (71-72) ... Averaged 75.74 this year.
Fall 2009: Competed in three tournaments for Maryland and one as an individual...Registered a low-round 70 at the Maryland Intercollegiate, helping the Terps to their best finish of the fall season...Had his best finish there coming in a tie for the No. 27 spot... Averaged a 76.40...Ranks top-25 in the ACC.
Spring 2009: Finished fourth on the team with a scoring average of 75.7 in five events ... finished tied for fourth place at the Rehoboth Beach Spring Invitational, shooting a season-best 2-over-par 73 ... finished 55th at the Seminole Intercollegiate ... tied for 36th place at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, shooting a 6-over-par 222 with rounds of 73-76-73.
Fall 2008: Second on the team with a 73.2 scoring average over the course of five events... Best finish came as a tie for 22nd place at the VCU Shootout (71-70-73--214)... Second-round 70 at the VCU Shootout tied for the low round of the fall... Also shot a 70 in the first round of the Maryland Intercollegiate (70-75--145), where he tied for 30th.
Spring 2008: Second on the team with a scoring average of 74.5, and one of only two players to have all of his rounds count (15.5 out of 15.5)... Finished tied for second at the George Washington Inviational, behind only teammate Chris Gold (77-70-34--181)... Led the team at the River Landing Intercollegiate with a tie for fifth place (72-71-72--215)... Shot his low round of the season at the George Washington Invitational in the second round with a 70.
Fall 2007: Finished second on the team in scoring average at 74.1, trailing only Chris Gold... Was second on the team in three of the six events... Also was second with 15 of his 17 rounds counting toward the team total (.882)... Lowest 18-hole score was his final-round 70 at the VCU Shootout (75-78-70--223)... Had four rounds at par or better out of his 17... Best 54-hole total was a 219 with a T41 placing at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (76-72-71--219)... Showed outstanding consistency with only two of his rounds coming in above 75... Best finish was a 16th individually at the Navy Fall Classic (75-73--148).
Before Maryland: All-Metro selection by The Baltimore Sun... Honorable mention All-Met by Washington Post as both a junior and senior... Captured AJGA Natural Resource Open... Won two events on Future College World Tour... Ranked during Summer 2007 as the top junior player in the state and 180th nationally by Golfweek magazine... Attended Oakland Mills HS and was the Howard County champ... Tied for 6th in the state high school championships as a senior... Won the Bluegrass Junior Golf Tournament at Bellefonte CC in Ashland, Ky... Had rounds of 67-79-67 for a 203 total and a 9-shot win over Chase Wright of Muncie, Ind... Only player in the field to have three rounds in the 60s on the par-70 course and the only player to finish the 54-hole event under par.
Personal: Parents are Susanna and Young Chul Shin... Has one sister, Tina... Undecided on a major as of yet, but has an eye on the PGA Tour... Lists Tiger Woods as his favorite athlete... Also enjoys soccer... Says he concentrates well on and off the course.
