Klingerman Scores Four To Lead Maryland Field Hockey To 13-1 Victory

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Angie Klingerman (Bloomsburg, Pa.) scored a career-high four goals and No. 4 Maryland tied a school-record for goals in a single game as the Terps defeated Georgetown, 13-1, in the first round of the Terrapin Field Hockey Invitational at the Artificial Turf Facility here today.

Senior forward Sally Northcroft (Harare, Zimbabwe) scored a school-record eight goals to lead Ball State to a 9-2 victory over American in the second game of the doubleheader. Maryland and Ball State will meet for the championship Sunday at 1 p.m. American and Georgetown will meet in a D.C. city rivalry beginning 1t 11 a.m.

Klingerman scored all four of her goals in the second half to lead the Terps. Fellow freshmen Carissa Messimer (Mountaintop, Pa.) scored her second hat trick in as many games while Autumn Welsh (Macungie, Pa.) was credited with a career-high four assists. In addition, junior co-captain Molly Kauffman (West Lawn, Pa.) scored a career-high two goals and junior Rachel Hiskins (Victoria, Australia) recorded three assists.

Starting goalie Ashley Hohnstine (Oakton, Va.) and Zoe Ehrlich (Montclair, N.J.) combined to make one save as the Terps outshot the Hoyas, 31-2. Senior Jordan Keating (Garden City, N.Y.) scored the only goal of the game for Georgetown in the second half.

Northcroft was the star of the second game with eight of the Cardinals nine goals. She scored four goals in each half. Freshman Jocelyn Teall scored Ball State's fifth goal of the game. Freshmen Magdalena Aguliar (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Erin Whiteside (West Chester, Pa) scored goals for American.
