Terps Fall to No. 12 Florida State, 5-2, Despite Late Fight

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Florida State, 5-2, Friday afternoon despite a late rally that included two matches going into third sets and two tiebreakers for the Terrapins.

After losing the first set, sophomore Lisa Miller fought to win her No. 4 match over FSU's Tapiwa Marobela, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Oksana Kruityenko held on to win her No. 6 match over Bonny Davidson, 6-2, 7-5 (4).

At the No. 1 position, junior co-captain Michal Amir, ranked No. 121 nationally, lost in a tiebreaker, 6-1, 7-6 (4), to Lauren MacFarlane, who is ranked No. 72 nationally.

The Terps claimed one doubles point with Amir and Miller defeating Katie Rybakova and Ania Rynarzewska, 8-3, at the No. 1 doubles spot.

The Terrapins will close out their home season Sunday morning with a match against No. 11 Miami. The match will take place at 10 a.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.
