COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland softball team will head to Virginia Tech this week for the Atlantic Coast Conference championships. The Terps (33-21, 8-11) come to Blacksburg, Va. as the No. 6-seed and will take on Florida State, the No. 3-seed, Friday at noon at the Tech Softball Park.
The Terps went 1-2 against the No. 25 Seminoles (41-15, 12-9) earlier this year in a weekend series at College Park. Maryland's 6-2 win in the series finale was the most runs Florida State had given up all year at that point.
Junior pitcher Kerry Hickey earned her 20th win Sunday at Boston College. She is the second Terrapin to break the 20-win mark in a season and first since Kelly Shipman did in 1996 and 1999. Hickey and sophomore Kendra Knight combine to lead the ACC with a team ERA of 1.64. The team ERA is No. 8 among all NCAA Division I teams.
