CAPE COD, Mass. - Senior Alex Schultz was named a Division I All-Star by the Eastern College Athletic Conference earlier this week. It is the third season accolade for the senior this year, as she was named to the ACC's First Team and the NFCA's All-Region Second Team earlier this month.
Schultz hit .378 for the year to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Conference at the plate. That is the second-highest single-season average by a Terrapin, behind only Amber Jackson's .408 in 2007. Schultz finished in the top ten of the conference in nearly every offensive category, including hits, runs, doubles, total bases, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and RBI.
She broke the top-ten in the Maryland career record books in runs, triples, home runs and stolen bases and the season record books in doubles, hits and runs. Earlier this season, she became the sixth Terp in school history to break the 100-run mark.
