COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 17 Maryland gymnastics team dominated EAGL rivals New Hampshire, NC State and Towson with strong performances on floor and vault at Comcast Center.

Rebounding from a loss at North Carolina, the Terps (7-1-1, 5-1-1 EAGL) were missing all-around freshman Kathy Tang, but still went on to score a 195.150.

"They were nervous how this night was going to go [without Kathy]," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "I told them to stop holding their breath; it's going to be fine. Go out and do what you do."

Maryland started strong on vault, trying the overall team record with 49.300. In her first meet as Terrapin, freshman Alex Zimmerman posted a 9.700 to start the rotation. Junior Katy Dodds and senior Ally Krikorian stamped the team's performance on vault with two 9.925s. The team tied its program-best 49.300 on the apparatus.

The Terps continued strong on uneven bars, with every gymnast finishing over 9.700. Junior Karen Tang set the team-high with a 9.850.

Maryland faltered on balance beam, but the team still maintained the lead. Sophomore Stephanie Giameo, who ranks third nationally, scored a 9.875 on the apparatus. Senior Kesley Cofsky scored a 9.625.

"These kids, they never give up. They fight so hard," said Nelligan. "They're so relentless in training that it's easy for them to be relentless in the meet."

The team finished on floor with Maryland's strongest performance of the season. Freshman Alex Zimmermann, Cofsky and Dodds all set personal records on floor, and Krikorian and Giameo tied personal records. Dodds nailed her routine to score a 9.950 with a 10 from one of the judges.

Giameo won the all-around with a 39.200. The sophomore never scored less than a 9.725. Cofsky tied for second with a 39.050.

They went out full force and the outcome was perfect," said Nelligan. "When they compete hard like that, they're always great."

The Terps are back in competition for the annual Pink Meet on Feb. 17 at 5 p.m against Rutgers and West Virginia.
