ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Maryland softball team rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 5-4 game from UNC-Wilmington in the second game at the Georgia Softball Classic.

The Terrapins were two outs away from locking up a 4-1 victory. With two runners on, the Seahawks' shortstop, Christy Ross, grounded out to shortstop. Nneka Cardoza (Brockton, Mass.) tried to get the force-out at third, but baserunner Nikki Nicholson beat out the throw to load the bases. The next batter, Meghan Mulcahy blasted a bases-clearing double to left center to tie the game at 4-4. In the bottom of the seventh, freshman second baseman Keri Lounge (Pasadena, Md.) led off the inning with a double and then scored when the Seahawks' defense botched Lindsay Klein's (Orange, Calif.) sacrifice bunt.

Maryland starter Monica Cyphert (Warren, Ohio) struck out eleven while going the distance for the Terps. The win improves Cyphert's record to 2-1.

The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks put the first run of the game on the board in the top of the second. First baseman Krista Searle led off with a hard-hit double to right center. With one out, pitcher Jess Luckett singled to advance Searle to third. The Seahawks scored their run on a two-out infield single by left fielder Christina Elmore.

Maryland countered the Seahawks offense by scoring a couple runs in the third. Catcher Rachel Greyson (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) led off the inning with a single and Crystal Tweedy (Dumfries, Va.) reached base on an error. With one out, Lounge delivered a single that scored both Greyson and Tweedy to put Maryland up, 2-1.

Maryland added another run in the fourth to increase their lead to 3-1. Junior right fielder Lauren Pollock (Severna Park, Md.) ripped a double to left center to lead off the inning. An at-bat later, she advanced to third on a fielding error by the Seahawks' shortstop. Third baseman Crystal Rizzuto (San Leandro, Calif.) rocked a pitch through the left side to drive in Pollock.

The Terps built on their lead off a double to right field by Greyson. Designated player Casey Leiter (Lake Stevens, Wash.) scored on the play, bringing the game to 4-1.
