Terrapins Fall to No. 23 VCU, 7-0, Sunday Afternoon

Final Stats

RICHMOND, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team fell to No. 23 Virginia Commonwealth, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in Richmond, Va. at the Thalhimer Tennis Center. The Terps fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Rams improved to 9-0.

Sophomore Maggie MacKeever and freshman Julia Huschke won their No. 3 doubles match over VCU's Kateryna Yergina and Kateryna Malakhova, 8-4, for the Terps' only win of the day.

Junior captain Michal Amir and sophomore co-captain Lisa Miller teamed up against Tatsiana Uvarova and Viktoria Konstantinova. Amir and Miller lost the No. 1 doubles match, 8-6. The freshman duo of Adela Matejkova and Karin Lundmark fell to Vera Petrashevitch and Laura Burns, 8-3, in their No. 2 doubles match.

Amir lost her No. 1 singles match to Uvarova, 6-4, 6-1. MacKeever dropped her No. 4 match to Burns, 6-2, 6-1, while Miller lost her No. 5 match to Petrashevitch, 6-1, 6-3.

Freshman Oksana Krutiyenko lost to Malakhova at the No. 6 position, 8-4, while Lundmark lost to Konstantinova, 6-2, 6-0. Huschke also lost her singles match to Yergina, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 3 position.

The Terrapins will play host to Penn next Saturday and Old Dominion Sunday. Both matches will take place at 10 a.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.
