COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior goalie Ashley Hohnstine (Oak Hill, Va.) saved six and collected her seventh shut out of the season as the No. 3 Maryland field hockey squad (14-2, 2-1 ACC) overcame the No. 14 James Madison Dukes, 4-0, in a home contest at the Artificial Turf Facility. The fine effort by the Terp keeper marks the fourth time this season Hohnstine has blanked a NFHCA Top 20 opponent. On the offensive front, senior All-American Rachel Hiskins (Victoria, Australia) netted the game winner as four different Terrapins found the back of the cage.

Hiskins ripped in the first and eventually decisive goal with 24:03 remaining in the first half after a centering pass by senior tri-captain Molly Kauffman (West Lawn, Pa.). Less than five minutes later, junior forward Dina Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.) punched in a cross from senior All-American Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y.) to give the Terps a 2-0 advantage. Junior All-American Caroline Walter (Reilingen, Germany) made it 3-0 before the halftime horn with an unassisted goal at 7:06.

The Terps wasted no time in the second half, capping the victory when junior Autumn Welsh (Macungie, Pa.) bounced in a rebound following her own penalty corner attempt at 32:34. Hohnstine made five second-half saves to frustrate JMU's Liz Sanders, who entered the match-up as the second-leading scorer in the nation.

Senior Amanda Latz and redshirt-sophomore Kiernan Raffo split time in the Dukes' net, with Latz totaling five stops.

The Terps' weekend homestand continues on Sunday, Oct. 22, when the No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels visit the Artificial Turf Facility. Game time is 1 p.m.
