Terrapins Continue Competition at Day Two of ITA Regionals

NORFOLK, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team continued play at the ITA Regional Championships in Norfolk Saturday. Competition will last through Tuesday.

Junior captain Michal Amir and freshman Julia Huschke won their first two rounds of dual matches. They beat Columbia's Nina Suda and Carling Donovan, 8-3, in the first round and then beat Elise DeRose and Samantha Inacker of Colgate, 8-5, in the second round.

Sophomore Lisa Miller and freshman Adela Matejkova lost their third dual match of the tournament to Virginia Tech's Inga Beerman and Jessica Brouwer, 8-2.

Sophomore Maggie MacKeever and Karin Lundmark lost their dual match to Yulia Rivelis and Charlie Tansill of Pennsylvania, 8-3, in the first round.

Freshman Oksana Krutiyenko defeated DeRose 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, in the first round of singles play.

Huscke dropped her first round match to Olena Leonchuk of VCU, 7-5, 6-2, and Lundmark lost in the first round to Vera Petrashevich 6-4, 6-0.
