With a 0-2 count, Lindsay Klein hit a single and advanced on a Seminole error which scored Keri Lounge and Belak for a 4-0 lead at the end of the inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Seminoles got on the scoreboard with two runs when Natasha Jacob's triple scored Yuruby Alicart and Whitney Buckmon.

Rachel Greyson added another run in the third inning on Keri Lounge's single up the middle for a 5-2 score. Lounge was 3-for-4 in the day.

The game was scoreless for the next three and a half innings. The Terps filled the bases in the fourth on a single, an error and a walk, but could not advance. Maryland had another opportunity in the sixth inning getting the bases loaded on Smith's double and two players hit by pitches, yet Seminole pitcher Tiffany McDonald struck out the next Maryland batter for a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.

With the Seminole's at the top of their lineup, FSU's next three batters hit singles to load the bases. Veronica Wootson hit a single on a Maryland error and Hoffer got to second with a single to left. FSU's Carly Brieski hit a short bunt up the third base line, coupled with a Maryland error, scoring the final three runs for the 6-5 loss for the Terps.

Game Two

In the consolation game between Western Michigan and Maryland, the Broncos outlasted the Terrapins scoring the game-winning run in the seventh inning for a 4-3 win over the Terrapins. Maryland falls to 7-8 while the Broncos improve to 8-5.
