Maryland softball returns to the Terrapin Softball Complex for a non-conference matchup against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday at 3 p.m., before heading to North Carolina State for a three-game ACC series this weekend (Apr. 1-2).
The Terrapins (15-16, 1-5 ACC) swept their doubleheader on Tuesday against Brown, winning the contests 8-0 and 5-1. Both Crystal Crews (10-6) and Meredith Nelles turned in two strong pitching performances yesterday, earning two victories. Crews fanned 11 batters in six innings while Nelles had 10 K's in the second game.
The Terps posted 20 hits in the twinbill and were led by Lindsay Klein who had five RBI, five hits and two runs on the day. Freshman Lindsay Ubrun had three RBI and her second home run of the season. Jenny Belak and Keri Lounge had three hits apiece.
The Terrapins are batting .270 and are led by Belak with a .402 batting average, 43 hits, and 21 runs. Klein, in second position, is batting .326 with 30 hits and holds the team-high of 21 RBI. Ubrun has 28 hits for a .298 batting average while also leading the team in doubles (8).
The last meeting between the Terps and the Mountaineers was in the first game of the Maryland Invitational on March 19, 2005 in College Park. The Terps jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. In the game, Belak had her first multi-hit game of her career and Welch had her first save of the season when she got the last two outs after entering the game with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.

Mount St. Mary's comes into Wednesday's doubleheader with an 15-12 overall record. The Mountaineers have won four of their last five games overall, including three wins over Coppin State.
The Mount St. Mary's offense is hitting a collective .295 in 27 games, led by Danyale Goode at .418 and 38 hits. The Moutaineers' shortstop, Amanda Burk, is second on the team with 29 hits, 21 runs batted in, a .659 slugging average and .475 on-base percentage. Burk has been a starter in 25 games this season and is the team leader in doubles (11) and triples (4) Jessica Burke and Catherine Dillingham have combined to steal 11 bases in 12 attempts. Kathleen Housman leads the team in runs (25) while Goode leads the team in homeruns (8).
The Mountaineer pitching staff has a combined 3.62 earned run average this season and has allowed opponents to hit for a .295 average. Mountaineer pitchers have struck out 87 batters in 181.2, to go along with 53 walks. Two pitchers have more strikeouts than walks. Maria Lutz has made a team-high 16 appearances and is 7-4 with eight complete games and a 2.52 ERA. She has struck out 38 and walked 12 in 77.2 innings. Junior right-hander Reanna Tuczynski leads the team with 12 starts and has won six games this season for a 4.74 ERA.
