Women's Outdoor Track & Field Wins Sportsmanship Award

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's track and field team was honored Monday with the Atlantic Coast Conference team sportsmanship award.

The honor was given for the team's participation in the outdoor season.

Teams receiving the award have conducted themselves with a high degree of character and good sportsmanship, as determined by a vote of the league's players and coaches. The conference presents sportsmanship awards for each of its 25 sponsored sports.

Maryland also won the ACC Sportsmanship Award in wrestling during the 2005-06 season.

Wake Forest was the recipient of the ACC Sportsmanship School of the Year Award for the second consecutive year by virtue of winning outright sportsmanship awards in four of its 18 sponsored sports.
