Senior outside hitter Sarah Treadwell checks in with umterps.com to discuss being back on campus after the volleyball team's victory at the ACC Championships, the upcoming NCAA Tournament and being named the ACC Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Talk about being back on campus after winning your second-consecutive ACC Volleyball Championship this past weekend in Charlottesville, Va.
Sarah Treadwell: Coming back to College Park has been fun because everyone has been congratulating us, even people I haven't talked to in awhile. It really hasn't sunk in yet that we actually won and that we're practicing for the NCAA Tournament now. Last week I didn't know if by this week I would be done playing volleyball, so it's exciting and a lot of people have been encouraging.

Has the team gotten together to watch the television broadcast of the championship match vs. North Carolina?
ST: We are watching the tape together today after practice. That will be cool because none of us have really seen it yet. But last night, I watched ACC Live, and they showed clips and a few interviews from the match and that was exciting to watch.

Will you get to go home to Texas for Thanksgiving?
ST: I am going home tomorrow for a day and a half. Some people are going to teammates' houses and other people are going home for a short time. It's good, it gives us a chance to have a nice break.

Will the team be getting together to watch the selection show on Sunday?
ST: Yeah we're going to watch it together on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. We'll see where and who we'll be playing.

You are the fourth player in Maryland history to be named the ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player (Colleen Hurley, Elizabeth Efron and Lynnsy Jones are the others). What does that mean to you?
ST: It's kind of unbelievable. I never expected to end this way. I wanted to, but I didn't think I would.

How have your goals changed after winning the ACC Tournament?
ST: This year has been up and down, so it made winning ACC's a lot more satisfying. But I don't think we're completely satisfied. At the very beginning of the year, we made a goal to at least get to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. So now we've put ourselves in a good position to get there.

Last year, some of the players' Dads promised to shave their heads if you won ACC's (and they did). This year, in addition to the Dads shaving their heads, the Moms have promised to dye their hair red. Is your mom participating in that?
ST: A lot of the parents are coming this weekend to our game (Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. vs. Miami (Ohio)). It won't be dyed permanently red, but they said they would do it if we won so we'll see. We'll make them do it this weekend, it will be fun.
