COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The United States Women's Under-21 National Field Hockey Team, featuring three members from the national champion Maryland Terrapins, will hold a training camp Friday through Tuesday at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland.

The training camp is in preparation for the Junior World Cup this August in Boston. The camp will include a game versus a men's regional team (Sat. at 5 p.m.) as well as the Mid-Atlantic High Performance Women's Team (Sun. at 7 p.m.), which is under the direction of Maryland's Tjerk van Herwaarden and various other regional U.S. coaches.

The U.S. U21 National Team has three current Terrapins on its roster in seniors Brianna Davies and Alexis Pappas as well as junior Katie O'Donnell. Terp junior Meghan Dean received an invitation as a U.S. U21 squad player.

"With the Junior World Cup in the States this August, it is an exciting training segment for our Under-21 players and staff," Meharg said. "Maryland is honored to have the squad train in College Park. There are several competitive segments between now and August and we appreciate the support of our athletic department to promote the squad and enhance our opportunity to place among the best in the world."

O'Donnell, a two-time first team All-American, serves as team captain of the U21 team.

The 2009 Junior World Cup will be held at Harvard University's Jordan Field from August 3-16 and will be the largest international field hockey event to ever be held in the U.S. Sixteen national teams will compete in the event, including Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Chile, China, England, France, Germany, India, Lithuania, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and the United States.

Following the Junior World Cup, the Terrapins will compete in their two-game exhibition schedule in Boston in preparation for the 2009 season. Maryland will face Northeastern on Aug. 15 and will take on Atlantic Coast Conference rival Boston College on Aug. 17.
