COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Despite 23 shots and many scoring opportunities, the Maryland women's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime tie with James Madison (6-6-2 overall) on a chilly Wednesday night at Ludwig Field.

The Terps' Ali Wolff (Richmond, Va.) recorded seven saves to mark her seventh shutout of the season for Maryland (6-4-2 overall). Wolff now has 18.5 career shutouts increasing her career record.

Maryland dominated play after a sluggish first half in which the teams combined for just five shots. In the second half, Maryland began shooting early and often on James Madison keeper Suzanne Wilson, posting 14 shots in the second half. But Wilson was up to the task making five of her 11 saves in the match in the second half.

Terp' sophomore forward Audra Poulin (Silver Spring, Md.), who was named ACC Player of the Week this past Monday, took a season-high 11 shots including seven on goal, but Wilson stopped everyone of them.

"We played with consistency, but we were unlucky," said Maryland head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski. "When you outshoot someone 23-9 as we did it shows we are getting opportunities. We need to convert on those opportunities."

Poulin had several chances in the final minutes of regulation and two more in the overtime sessions but was unable to record her second career goal.

Maryland took 12 corner kicks to the Dukes' six. James Madison was also whistled for 24 of the 34 fouls in the match.

It was Maryland's second straight overtime match and third of the season after not playing one the entire 2000 season. It was also the first scoreless tie since a 0-0 score at NC State on Sept. 18, 1999.

The Terps return to action on Sunday as they travel to Williamsburg, Va. to face William & Mary (6-6-1 overall) at 1 p.m.
