Men's Golf Takes Second at ODU/OBX Invite

POWELLS POINT, N.C. - The Maryland men's golf team took second place out of 18 in the ODU/OBX Golf Invitational Tuesday at Kilmarlic Golf Course. The Terps put up their best score as a team for the season in the final round.

After Monday's second round, the Terrapins sat in seventh place with their score of 284. They combined to put together their best round of the season Tuesday with score of 274. Three Terrapins - Sean Bosdosh, Victor Fox and Tom Harris - met or set their career-best scores for a round.

"We're just really proud of the guys," said assistant coach Steven Delmar, who traveled with the team. "Everyone was in every round this week. They have been working really hard, so it's nice to finally have the scores reflect the way they've been working. We've just got to continue to get better this winter and get ready to open the spring in Aiken, S.C."

Fox went one-under with a score of 70 Tuesday to finish tied for eighth on the leaderboard and two strokes under total. His scores of 70 Sunday and Tuesday are his career-bests and his 54-hole score of 211 is also a career-best.

After a tough first round Sunday with a 77, Bosdosh rebounded with a 71 Monday and a career-low 67 Tuesday to move from 40th on the leaderboard Monday to tied for 19th Tuesday. He ended the weekend with a total score of 215.

Junior Connor Tendall finished out his strong outing with a 73 Tuesday to go three-over (73-70-73) with his score of 216 for the weekend. He finished tied for 23rd. Junior Ben Warnquist went one-under Monday to wind up four-over for the weekend (74-73-70) and in the top 30.  Sophomore Tom Harris put up his career-best round of 67, four-under, Tuesday to go (81-72-67) 220 on the weekend.

Maryland finished second to VCU and finished above Bowling Green, Delaware, Drake, Drexel, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hartford, Hofstra, Jacksonville, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola,  Marshall, Old Dominion and Radford.

This weekend concluded the Terps' fall competition schedule. They will resume competition in the spring at the USC Aiken Palmetto Classic in Aiken, S.C. March 10-11, 2014.
