COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Silvi Uattara tallied a match-high 17 kills and 12 digs to lead the Syracuse volleyball team to a 3-0 victory (30-28, 25-19, 29-27) over Maryland Friday night in Comcast Pavilion.
The Terps will look to wipe the slate clean as they welcome Boston College to the Pavilion Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Mary Cushman led the Terps with 11 kills in the loss, while Ashleigh Crutcher had 10 kills in her return after missing nine matches to injury. Amy Dion notched her fourth double-double of the season with 18 assists and 11 digs.
Meeting for the first time since 2002, Syracuse (7-12, 2-5 ACC) posted a .200 hitting percentage to down Maryland (10-9, 2-5 ACC). The Orange needed extra points in the first and third frames, but prevailed for the sweep.
Uatarra was a consistent force for the Orange throughout the match, tallying at least five kills in each set. Erica Handley totaled 40 assists in the match.
Freshman Whitney Craigo notched 14 assists in her collegiate debut for the Terrapins.
