COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Amidst preseason workouts in preparation for the 2014 season, the Maryland softball season was involved in the community as it took part in an event for kids called “UMTTR” (You Matter) at the Bullis School.
The event hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and other fun activities in memory of Evan Rosentock, a young man who took his own life earlier this year. Terrapin softball players and others helped create a fun and positive way for kids in the community to enjoy the thrill of sports and competition.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), which benefits teen suicide and depression research.
The Terps joined up with Montgomery County councilmembers, in addition to former Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards players.
