The University of Maryland women’s soccer team hosts its lone preseason exhibition match on Friday, Aug. 16 vs. Loyola. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start at Ludwig Field. Admission to the event is free.
“We’re excited to get out on the field and play against another team for the first time this season,” said Maryland head coach Jonathan Morgan. “We were able to learn some things about our team in last week’s Red/White game, but it’s always interesting to see how things come together against a different opponent.”
The Terps, which is ranked No. 17 in the preseason NSCAA poll, boasts a roster with 23 returning players and seven starters from a team that finished with a 14-7-2 record, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and reached the finals of the ACC Championship in 2012.
Loyola is coming off of a 2012 season that saw the Greyhounds amass a 12-6-4 record en route to winning the MAAC championship and earning a bid to the NCAA tournament.
Maryland opens its 2013 regular season on Friday, Aug. 23 with a 7 p.m. match at Ludwig Field vs. The Citadel.
