COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior's AJ Lee and Marty Costes each recorded two hits, but the Maryland baseball team (10-12) dropped the series opener to Stetson (19-3), 12-3 on Friday night.

Stetson scored in six of the nine innings, totaling 14 hits in the contest. The Hatters scored one in each the first, fourth and fifth innings, while tallying two in the third and five in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Down 5-0 in the fifth, Lee led off the inning for Maryland with a single to left for the Terps first hit of the game off Stetson ace Logan Gilbert before Costes followed with a poke to the same spot. With one out, freshman outfielder Richie Schiekofer got clipped on the arm to load the bases. Senior catcher Justin Morris scored Lee on a fielders choice to make it a 5-1 ballgame.

In the ninth with the score at 12-1, Maryland would score two more. Junior infielder Nick Dunn blasted a double over the left fielder's head to get the inning started, while Lee and Costes would follow with their second hits of the game, with Lee's scoring Dunn. Freshman infielde Chris Alleyne notched a RBI with a groundout to score Lee for Maryland's final run.

Senior pitcher Taylor Bloom threw 6 2/3 innings on the hill, allowing five earned runs. Sophomore Elliot Zoellner and freshman Grant Burleson pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief.
