#32 Terps Win Pink Invitational Tri Meet

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 32 Maryland gymnastics team posted podium finishes on every event to win the Pink Invitational Friday night. The Terrapins scored a 195.150 to beat West Chester (193.300) and Southern Connecticut State (190.725).

This is the sixth-straight meet where the Terps scored over a 195.

Freshman Audrey Barber scored a 38.625 to place first in the all-around and sophomore Kirsten Peterman followed in third by posting a 38.325.

The Terps began the meet on bars, their strongest event of the night, where they scored a 49.250. Barber and freshman Emilie LeBlanc both posted career-high scores of 9.900 to tie for first place on bars. Peterman notched a 9.850, and senior Evelyn Nee and freshman Karrie Thomas posted a pair of 9.800s.

Maryland moved to beam, where Thomas earned the event title with a 9.800, followed by junior Shynelle Agaran with a 9.7750 to claim second place. The Terrapins earned a 48.025 on the apparatus.

The Terrapins competed on floor next, scoring a total of 49.125. Sophomore Alecia Farina won the event title by tying a career-high score of 9.850. Barber and Thomas also tied their personal-bests, with Barber placing second (9.875) and Thomas third (9.850) on the event.

Maryland finished the meet on vault, earning a 48.750. Barber and fellow freshman Collea Burgess tied for first place with a 9.800, followed by sophomores Deanna Magro and Emma Johnson in third with a pair of 9.750s. 

The Terps return to the XFINITY Center next Friday, where they will host Penn, Temple and Yale in the Maryland Quad Meet at 7 p.m.
