Sammie Stefan comes to Maryland by way of LaGrange, Ohio, where she was a two-time All-American at Keystone High School. Stefan a two-time First Team All-Ohio selection, and was named Miss Softball Lorian County in 2017. Get to know Sammie Stefan.
How is your first semester at Maryland?
My first semester at Maryland has been a great experience, I have learned how to be independent and am still in the process of becoming a strong, confident woman. My teammates have welcomed me with open arms and I definitely feel as if I am a part of a family.
What attracted you to the University of Maryland?
The pride that the University of Maryland, being a Terrapin, and in the state of Maryland itself. I also wanted to be a part of a building program with Coach Wright and seeing the progress we have made is incredible.
What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
My favorite memory from softball is the bond that I have built with my dad over the years. He is my best friend and softball would not be the same without him.
How has it been getting to know your teammates?
It is great to get to know each other and figure out each other’s stories for why we do what we do. Everyone’s story is different, yet there is one main reason for why we are all here, and that is to play softball.
Are you a good cook, what's your favorite thing to make?
I wouldn’t say I am a good cook but I definitely am learning. I mainly eat chicken so I can make different assortments of chicken recipes (kind of).
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
I would have to say my favorite part about myself is my passion I have for everything I do. If I set my mind to something I will always give 100%.
What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
My best vacation was a few years ago when my entire family and I drove from Ohio to California, we stopped at the Rocky Mountains and Arches National Park on the way there and on the way back we stopped at the Grand Canyon.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
My favorite thing to do is talk with my family back home.
Bucket list sporting event that you would want to attend one day (as a fan)?
I would absolutely love to go to the NBA finals (if the Cleveland Cavaliers are there, of course)
