COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomore Blair Watson led all scorers with 30 as Maryland dispatched Bowie State 98-47 in its final preseason exhibition game Friday evening.
The Terps took control early in the contest at the XFINITY Center, racing out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter. Watson was all over the floor for the Terps in the game, scooping 11 rebounds, tallying five assist while hitting four three-pointers. She would finish with 13 points in the opening half as Maryland carried a 47-18 edge into the locker room.
It was more of the same in the second half, as the Terps continue to convert fast break chances and limit the Bowie State offense. Maryland made 31 trips to the free throw line in the game, converting 21 to eventually seal the 49-point victory.
Maryland will officially open its 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10 vs. NCAA Tournament team Albany. The Terrapins and the Great Danes will tip off at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.
