Student-Athletes Honored for Academic Excellence

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Student-athletes representing all sport programs at the University of Maryland were honored on Saturday at halftime of Maryland football's game vs. UCF for their off-the-field academic excellence. President Loh and Athletic Director Kevin Anderson introduced the student-athletes at halftime of the football team’s matchup against UCF.

Recognized for their dedication to academics as well as athletics, 294 students were named Scholar-Athletes and 196 were named Dean’s List recipients. 23 students were recognized for earning perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall and spring semesters.

Zoe Stukenberg was recognized for her distinguished excellence in the classroom, garnering awards across the board. She was honored for graduating with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, receiving the Big Ten Medal of Honor and NCAA Elite 90 Award and being nominated to be the NCAA Woman of the Year.

Cody Niedermeier was also awarded with the Big Ten Medal of Honor and Charde' Barnes and Tayler Stiles were awarded with the Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship.

The Big Ten additionally recognized 152 student-athletes for being named Academic All-Big Ten and 33 student-athletes for being named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.
