LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophomore Marty Costes had three hits, including a home run, but No. 24 Maryland fell, 8-4, to Nebraska at Haymarket Park Sunday afternoon.

The Terrapins (20-10, 6-3 Big Ten) and Cornhuskers were tied after three and a half innings, but the home team scored two runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to ultimately take the victory.

Nebraska jumped in front on an unearned run after a two-out error extended the inning. Maryland tied the game in the fourth when Costes singled in Zach Jancarski, who had reached on a lead-off double.

The Cornhuskers retook the lead in the bottom half of the frame and would not relinquish it. Costes would draw the deficit back to just one on his two-run rocket over the fence in left field, but Nebraska would score two in the bottom half of the sixth to consolidate its advantage.

Sophomore AJ Lee, who finished with two hits, knocked in sophomore Dan Maynard in the ninth to make the score 8-4.

Jancarski finished with a multi-hit game and reached base three times. Maryland freshman LHP Tyler Blohm took the loss after giving up four runs in four and two thirds innings of work. Nebraska’s starter LHP Jake Meyers, took the win.

Maryland returns to action Tuesday against West Virginia at Bob “Turtle Smith Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and fans can watch live on BTN Plus. Maryland Baseball Network will provide radio coverage of the action.
