Terps Compete at Big Ten Championship

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Terps posted a season-high vault score as the Maryland gymnastics team competed at the Big Ten Championship Saturday.

The Terps tallied a 193.625 at the meet, competing in the afternoon session. Michigan won the Big Ten title in the evening session with a 197.300.

Maryland began the meet on vault, where the team earned a 48.925. Freshman Kirsten Peterman earned a 9.700 and senior Leah Slobodin followed with a 9.725. Senior Emily Brauckmuller set a career high with a 9.825 and freshman Alecia Farina posted a career-high 9.850. Senior Sarah Faller earned a 9.800 and freshman Morgan Bixler anchored with a 9.725.

The team moved to bars, where three Terps counted falls. Faller led off with a 9.750 and Peterman tied a career high with a 9.850. Junior Evelyn Nee earned a 9.700.

Faller, Peterman and junior Dominiquea Trotter led Maryland on beam with 9.750s as the Terps posted a 48.575.

On floor, Slobodin led the Terps with a 9.850 and Amanda Bertorello notched a 9.750. Sophomore Megan McClelland and Peterman tallied 9.725s.

Peterman and Farina each competed in the all around. Peterman posted a 39.025 and Farina notched a 37.975.
