Krisitin Carpenter joined the Terrapins' volleyball staff on Feb. 16, 2017. A two-time national championship-winning player at Penn State, Carpenter joins the Terrapins’ staff after spending a season as an assistant at Oklahoma.

With the Terps, Carpenter will primarily be in charge of training the setters and coordinating recruiting efforts. 
As a player at Penn State, Carpenter helped lead the Nittany Lions to NCAA Championships in 2009 and 2010. As the team’s setter in 2010, she was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team. She moved into a defensive specialist role in her last two seasons and served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
Before beginning her coaching career, Carpenter spent two seasons overseas playing professionally in Sweden and Greece. She was named MVP of the Elite Series and was Best Server for the Grand Prix champion Svedala Volleyboll Klubb. Carpenter moved to A.O. Markopoulo in Greece and served as the team’s setter and captain.
Carpenter started her collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Virginia in 2015. She was tasked with working with the team’s setters and breaking down film. Carpenter moved to Oklahoma the following season and was also tasked with training the Sooners’ setters.
Carpenter graduated from Penn State with a degree in kinesiology in December 2012.

Carpenter is married to Clay Steadman, who helped the Penn State wrestling team to the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Championships.
