COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its fourth annual “Terps Got Talent Student-Athlete Talent Show” on Wednesday evening at the Grand Ballroom of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union.

For the third year in a row, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee partnered with Terp Thon to raise money and awareness for the Children’s National Health System in Washington D.C. This year, a record $4,000 was raised by the event, an increase of $500 from last year.

The night featured 13 events with student-athlete representatives from 10 intercollegiate teams. The acts ranged from musical numbers to dance routines to a magic act. The event was emceed by Alex Leto (men’s track and field) and Ieshia Small (women’s basketball). During the intermission of the performances, first hand stories were told to the crowd by Carsten and Jaiwen, who have both been treated through the Children’s National Health System.

The event, which was attended by a capacity crowd, was judged by Testudo, former Maryland football player AJ Francis, Terrapin Club member Colin Potts, and Miracle Child Jaiwen.

*We were very excited for this years Terps Got Talent, with it moving to a new venue and we could not be happier with the result and turnout,” said SAAC Vice President Alexandra Cimino (women’s track and field). “We were able to donate $4,000 to Terp Thon which is so incredible. It makes all the hard work our student athletes and staff put into the show worth it. It was a very gratifying event.”

The event, which was attended by a capacity crowd, was judged by Testudo, former Maryland football player A.J. Francis, Terrapin Club member Colin Potts, and Miracle Child Jaiwen. Women’s Lacrosse and Women’s Basketball shared the title, with their respective Justin Beiber lip sync and mannequin head dance leading the votes. Joe Barber (wrestling) came in second place for his magic act and the disco trio lip sync (women’s track) took third place.
