Evan Eigner was announced as an assistant coach for the Terps by head coach Brett Nelligan on Aug. 5, 2016.

Eigner comes to College Park after graduating from Ohio State. He spent two seasons competing for the Buckeyes’ men’s gymnastics team, helping Ohio State to the 2016 Big Ten Championship and a third place finish at the 2016 NCAA Championship. As a Buckeye, Eigner was named Academic All-Big Ten and a CGA First Team All-America Scholar Athlete. He also served as the team’s community service coordinator.
As a student-athlete, Eigner also acclimated himself with the athletic department’s external operations office, working as an event management intern and a Buckeye Marketing Academy student assistant.
Prior to his time with the Buckeyes, Eigner spent two seasons on Temple’s men’s gymnastics team. He helped lead the team to the 2013 ECAC Championship and placed third on rings at the 2014 ECAC Championship.
Eigner competed under his father, Fred Turoff, at Temple. Turoff was a U.S. World Team member in 1970 and an Olympic assistant coach for Team USA in 1992. He is a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame and Temple Athletics Hall of Fame.
A native of Philadelphia, Eigner has spent time coaching several gymnastics camps, including The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, North Carolina State University, University of Pennsylvania, and International Gymnastics Camp. He also has experience coaching at the Junior Olympic level at Philadelphia Boys' Gymnastics and Silver Stars Gymnastics.
Eigner graduated from Ohio State in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in sport industry.
