Each week during the 2014-15 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Adreené Elliott of the Maryland volleyball team.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior volleyball player Adreené Elliott has been named the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week for a spectacular performance at the Elon Phoenix Classic last weekend.
Elliott led Maryland to a perfect 3-0 record to open the season last weekend en route to claiming Phoenix Classic Most Valuable Player honors. The Winston Salem, N.C., native averaged 4.5 kills/s over the course of three matches – the highest average of all players in the Big Ten Conference after opening weekend.
The senior opened the 2014 campaign with 16 kills (.262 pct.) against host Elon, before tallying a career-high 24 kills to lead Maryland to a come-from-behind victory against Liberty. Elliott also matched a career-high with seven digs versus Liberty.
The Terps return to action this weekend at the Patriot Invitational with three matches against Lehigh, East Tennessee State and George Mason. Maryland has the opportunity to go 4-0 for the first time since 2005, when it went on to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
