COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland football’s season opener against James Madison at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium on Aug. 30 is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff and its home date against West Virginia on Sept. 13 is set for a noon kickoff, the Big Ten Conference office confirmed Wednesday. Both matchups will be carried live on BTN.
Kickoff times for Maryland’s first three games of the 2014 season are now confirmed. As already announced, the Terps’ week two matchup with USF is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. kick in Tampa, Fla.
The opener against James Madison will be the third all-time meeting between the Terps and Dukes with the Terps winning both matchups at home. Maryland won its last meeting with James Madison, 38-35 in overtime, to open its 2009 home schedule.
Maryland defeated West Virginia last season with a 37-0 victory over the Mountaineers at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The Terps trail the all-time series against the Mountaineers, 22-26-2, but are 12-12-1 at home. Since 1980, Maryland and West Virginia have played every season except in 2008 and 2009.
