Craddock Selected to Groza Watch List

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – University of Maryland junior place-kicker Brad Craddock has been named to the 2014 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Watch List as announced Wednesday by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

The Groza Award is given annually to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker as determined by a voting panel of Division I head coaches, sports writers and sportscasters from across the county, conference representatives, professional kickers and previous winners.

Craddock, a Groza semifinalist in 2013, connected on 84 percent (21-of-25) of his field goal attempts, which ranked 28th nationally and was the fourth-highest percentage in school history, and averaged 1.6 field goals per game, tied for the eighth-highest average in the country.

The native of Adelaide, Australia, ranks second in school history in career field goal percentage (75.6%) and ranks ninth in program history with 31 made field goals. For his career, Craddock ranks ninth among kickers in school history with 153 points scored.

The watch list highlights 30 of the top returning place-kickers in the country. The Palm Beach Sports Commission will announce its 20 semifinalists Thursday, Nov. 6, with the finalists set to be announced on Monday, Nov. 24. The award winner will be announced Thursday, Dec. 11 during the Home Depot College Football Awards in Orlando, Fla.
