Team USA Finishes Fourth in Rabobank Hockey World Cup

Team USA fell to No. 2 Argentina, 2-1 Saturday in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup. The Americans tied it at 1-1 11 minutes in, but star Argentinian player Luciana Aymar helped them take the lead 10 minutes later.

"Advancing from 10th to fouth in the world is an outstanding feat for Team USA," Terps head coach Missy Meharg said. "In 16 months, Craig Parnham and his staff have brought a fitting brand of fitness, tactics and desire to our women's program. Wins over England, Germany, China and South Africa on the biggest stage in world hockey are exciting as we prepare for the Olympic Games in Rio."

"To our Terps, Katie O'Donnell and Jill Witmer, we all thank you for giving Maryland fans two weeks of serious world class hockey entertainment. Good luck to our Terps getting ready to represent Team USA in the World Cup in Brazil."


USA to Play for World Cup Bronze Saturday

June 12, 2014

Team USA, ranked 10th in the world, fell to No. 4 Australia in a shootout Thursday in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup Semifinals. In their first semifinal appearance in 20 years, the Americans made it a 2-2 tie late in the game, but fell 3-1 in penalty shots.

Former Terrapin Katie O'Donnell took the first penalty shot for Team USA and it was saved.

The Americans will play Argentina, who they tied with in group play, Saturday at 6:30 a.m. ET in the bronza medal game. The match will be shown live on ESPN3.com.

USA Set For Semi-Final Against No. 4 Australia

The U.S. Women’s National Team is making an undeniable, global statement by wrapping up pool play at the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup with an undefeated record against the top-tier world ranked national teams. The United States left Greenfields Stadium against No. 11 South Africa with a 4-2 win to confirm a historic semi-final position. This is the first time in 20 years the U.S. has been in a semi-final match at the World Cup.

USA Earns World Cup Semifinal Bid With 4-1 Win Over No. 6 Germany

Team USA continued it's dominance in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup Sunday with a 4-1 victory over sixth-ranked Germany, who is the reigning European champion.

Former Terrapin Katie O'Donnell picked up two assists on the day as a catalyst for the American offense.

Next, the Americans will close out group play Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. ET match against 11th-ranked South Africa. The match will be shown live on ESPN3.com.

O'Donnell's Hat Trick Leads Team USA Past No. 7 China, 5-0

Former Terrapin Katie O'Donnell helped lead Team USA to a dominating 5-0 win over seventh-ranked China early Friday morning in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands. O'Donnell is currently the tournament's leading scorer and the USA is atop the standings.

"We came into this tournament with no medal expectations," O'Donnell said. "We just wanted to take each game as it came and our goal was to finish higher than 10th."

Team USA has two wins and one tie in its first three games of group play.


Team USA Earns Draw With No. 2 Argentina

June 3, 2014

Team USA earned a 2-2 draw with No. 2 Argentina Tuesday in the American's second game  in group play.

Katie Reinprecht put the Americans on the board in the 27th minute, then Argentina answered five minutes later to tie it before halftime. Argentina took a 2-1 lead with just nine minutes left in the game. Kelsey Kolojejchick from Team USA tied it two minutes later.

Team USA Wins First Group Match Against England, 2-1

June 1, 2014

Team USA, ranked 10th in the world, beat third-ranked England, 2-1 Sunday in its first match of group play in the Rabobank World Cup at Kyocera Stadium in The Hague, Netherlands. The U.S. scored on two penalty corners in the first half for the lead.

Next, the U.S. will play second-ranked Argentina at 11:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday in the second match of group play. The match will be shown live on ESPN3.com.
