GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Maryland baseball team has earned the sixth seed and has been placed in Pool B for the upcoming 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship scheduled to begin Tuesday at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, the league announced Sunday.
Second-seeded Florida State, third-seeded Virginia and the winner of the play-in game between seventh-seeded North Carolina and 10th-seeded NC State will join the Terps in Pool B. The Wolfpack and the Tar Heels meet Tuesday at 11 a.m. to determine the final spot in the pool.
The Terps (34-19), who will be making their first appearance in the tournament since 2005, begin play Thursday, May 22 at 11 a.m. against Virginia. The Terps then face Florida State at 11 a.m. on Friday and close pool play Saturday at 3 p.m. against the North Carolina-NC State winner.
Miami earned the top overall seed and will head up Pool A. The Hurricanes will be joined by fourth-seeded Duke and fifth-seeded Clemson, while eighth-seeded Wake Forest and ninth-seeded Georgia Tech will play on Tuesday to join the pool.
Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its pool Wednesday through Saturday (May 21-24). The two teams with the best records within their respective pools will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 25, with the winner earning the ACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The two pools winners will play Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the 2014 ACC Championship.

All 15 games of this year’s ACC Baseball Championship will be televised for the eighth straight year. Regional Sports Networks from across the conference footprint and across the nation will carry all 14 games on Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday’s 1 p.m. championship game will televised nationally by ESPN2. All games will also be available on ESPN3.
In addition, all 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. games will be broadcast via satellite radio on Sirius 220/XM 190. The night games and Sunday’s championship game will available on SiriusXM 91.
