COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Randy Edsall and over 30 members of the Maryland football team took part in the 2014 Best Buddies Friendship Walk Saturday morning in College Park.

Edsall, who served as the events honorary chairman for the fourth-consecutive year, spent the morning posing for photos and thanking volunteers before leading the walk around College Park. Offensive lineman Evan Mulrooney, who spent the summer volunteering for Best Buddies, recruited his teammates to once again join him in the event.

“It is always great being able to be a part of an organization like Best Buddies,” Mulrooney said. “The walk gives us a chance to give back a little bit and get more involved with people from all over the state of Maryland.

“I can’t say enough good things about Best Buddies and how much I love being able to help them out whenever I have the chance.”

The annual event benefits Best Buddies Maryland, a nonprofit that creates one-to-one friendships, leadership opportunities and integrated employment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The University of Maryland, College Park Best Buddies Chapter hosted lunch and the annual Friendship Games immediately after the Friendship Walk.

The  Best Buddies Maryland Friendship Walk has raised more than $375,000 in its first five years and has seen more than 2,500 walkers take part. It is the largest one day walk in the country for Best Buddies.
