Terps in Seventh After Two Rounds at

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Maryland women’s golf team put together a very strong showing in the first two rounds of the Intercollegiate Monday and head into the final round in seventh place.

The Terps posted a 295 in round one and a 290 in round two to trail sixth-place Ohio State by three strokes heading into the third round Tuesday morning.

Juliet Vongphoumy was sensational on Monday, recording a 69 and a 68 in the first two rounds. Vongphoumy is currently tied for second with Jordan Britt of Chattanooga. She trails leader Matilda Castren of Florida State by two strokes.

After recording her top performance as a collegian the last time out at the Briar’s Creek Invitational, Alexandria Papell posted a 73 on both rounds Monday and is tied for 28th. Emily Gimpel (74-76-150) is tied for 46th and Jessica Gregory (87-73-160) and Heidi Baek (79-83-162) wrapped action for the Terps.

Third round action begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the Marsh Landing Country Club Tuesday.
