COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Six members of the Maryland field hockey team were selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s National Academic Squad Wednesday. As a team, the Terrapins were honored as a National Academic Squad for maintaining a team GPA of 3.0 or better.
Katie Gerzabek, Christine Knauss, Delaney Leathers, Alyssa Parker, Steffi Schneid and Shelby Sydnor were all honored by the national organization. Knauss and Sydnor are both four-time honorees, while Schneid has been honored for the second time.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.
Gerzabek and Parker were also named to the All-ACC Academic team last month.
The Terrapins went 22-2 in the 2013 season, winning the program’s 10th ACC title with a 2-0 victory over North Carolina in Boston. Maryland advanced to its 17th Final Four and 16th under head coach Missy Meharg.
