Vongphoumy Paces Terps on Day Two in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Juliet Vongphoumy was solid once again Tuesday as the Maryland women’s golf team wrapped up day two at the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Golf Course.

Vongphoumy posted a 72, one stroke shy of the 71 she recorded on Monday.  She is currently tied for eighth in the overall standings.

Jessica Gregory and Heidi Baek shaved three and four strokes, respectively, off their first round scores on day two. Gregory and Baek shot a 78.

After recording a 74 Monday, Emily Gimpel slipped down the leaderboard with an 82 Tuesday. Alexandria Papell notched an 81.

The Terps will head into the final day of competition Wednesday in 17th place after posting a team score of 309 Tuesday.

Wednesday's final round will commence with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
