Saturday will feature a doubleheader with the first game beginning at noon. The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one. This is the first all-time meeting between the Terps and Bulldogs.

-Maryland returns 21 lettermen from a year ago including five starting positional players - 1B LaMonte Wade, SS Blake Schmit, 3B Jose Cuas, CF Charlie White and RF Anthony Papio.

-On the pitching staff, the Terps welcome back 11 arms from a season ago including LHP Jake Drossner, RHP Brady Kirkpatrick, RHP Kevin Mooney, LHP Alex Robinson and RHP Jake Stinnett, who combined for 39 of the Terps’ 55 starts last season.

-Mooney assumed the closer’s role midway through the 2013 season after Stinnett transitioned to the starting rotation. The then-freshman closer totaled nine saves, the second-highest single-season total in program history.

-On Saturday at Florida, Mike Shawaryn became the first freshman pitcher to start on opening weekend since Kirkpatrick started the second game of a doubleheader at Texas on Feb. 20, 2011. Shawaryn was only the fourth freshman since 2005 to start on opening weekend for the Terps and of the group of four is the only hurler to earn a victory.

-Brandon Lowe and Anthony Papio each hit solo home runs in the Terps’ 9-7 win against the Gators on Saturday. It marked the first multi-home run game for Maryland since hitting two homers at Virginia Tech on April 28, 2012.

-After totaling 94 stolen bases a season ago, which ranked 30th in the country, the Terps picked up where they left off in 2013 with seven stolen bases in Gainesville. Six different Terps recorded a stolen base led by two from Papio.

-Six Terps made their Maryland debut over the weekend against Florida - Nick Cieri, Krysthian Leal, Brandon Lowe, Mike Rescigno, Mike Shawaryn and Tayler Stiles.

-Of the 23 players that saw action in Gainesville, 15 of them were underclassmen including five redshirt or true freshmen - Cieri, Lowe, Rescigno, Shawaryn and Stiles.
