COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The ninth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team will head south this week for a 7 p.m. matchup at Miami Thursday at the BankUnited Center. The Terrapins (19-4, 7-3 ACC) will look to win their fourth straight game and second straight over the Hurricanes.

National Player of the Year candidate Alyssa Thomas scored 22 points with seven rebounds to help Maryland handle Clemson, 95-43, Sunday afternoon. Freshman Brionna Jones added 14 points with seven boards, three steals and two blocks in her 21 minutes on the floor. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 11 points.
Thomas is just 129 points from breaking Crystal Langhorne’s school scoring record of 2,247 career points and 130 rebounds from Langhorne’s school record of 1,229.
Miami (12-10, 4-7) is coming off of an 89-87 loss at Georgia Tech Sunday. The Terrapins own the series, 9-5, over the Hurricanes and won last year’s matchup, 84-62, in College Park. The Terps have lost two straight in Coral Gables.
Maryland leads the ACC and is sixth in the nation with its rebounding margin of +11.7. The Terps are top 10 in the NCAA in scoring margin, field goal percentage, scoring offense, free throw percentage and in assists. They lead the ACC in three-point field goal percentage defense, scoring defense and free throw percentage. Thomas is fifth in the league in scoring (18.6) and second in rebounding (10.7). Freshman Lexie Brown leads the league in assist/turnover ratio (2.1). She is No. 5 in the conference in three-point percentage (40.7%) and senior Katie Rutan is No. 6 (40.2%).
The Terrapins are ranked No. 9 in the latest Associated Press and in the USA Today Coaches poll.
After Sunday’s game, the Terrapins will take on No. 5 Duke Monday in Durham (22-3, 9-2) at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 as part of ESPN’s Big Monday. The game can also be seen on ESPN3.com and the Watch ESPN app.
