The last week brought plenty of events to our team. We had several team and individual practices, played two dual matches and spent great time together. Also, new assistant coach Gina joined the Terps family.
We started the week working hard on the tennis court as well as in the gym in order to get ready for our weekend matches. Our practices were very intensive, but also enjoyable. On Thursday, we left for Old Dominion University.
The next day, we played our match against ODU. We won a doubles point and secured three victories in singles. So, the result of Friday's match was 4-2 for us and another victory on the road this season!
For the match at Old Dominion, all of us were traveling in one car, which I like very much. This gives an opportunity to communicate with everyone as well as play team games, which we did when we found ourselves in a big traffic jam on our way back.
On Saturday, we had the first practice with our new assistant coach Gina! Later on Saturday, we had a great team evening at Welma's house, where Welma, who is a true culinary expert, prepared dinner for us.
Sunday, however, was not a lucky day for the Terps. We lost our first match this season against St. John's. We won all doubles matches. Then, we won two singles matches and lost other four, although some matches were really close.
Anyway, as famous football coach Vince Lombardi said once, "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up". Now, we have to learn lessons from our mistakes and prepare for the next matches. I believe we will do great!
Let's go Terps!
