ORLANDO - The Maryland women’s lacrosse team kicks off the 2014 campaign Saturday at the Champion Challenge at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

The Terps will face a Maryland-heavy U.S. Women’s National Team in exhibition action Saturday with a pair of games at 5 and 7 p.m.  Maryland boasts seven players on the U.S. roster including current sophomore Taylor Cummings and junior Kelly McPartland.

Other familiar faces on the U.S. squad include current assistant coach and former Tewaaraton winner Caitlyn McFadden.  Maryland Director of Operations and former All-American Alex Aust and the Terps’ lone two-time Tewaaraton winner Katie Schwarzmann are also on the roster and join former All-Americans Karri Ellen Johnson and Iliana Sanza

Schwarzmann and McFadden were both key members of the World Cup champion U.S. Women’s National Team in 2013. McFadden was also part of the 2009 championship squad.

Maryland boasts more players on the U.S. roster than any other program in the country.

The Terps officially begin the 2014 slate with a match at UMBC on Thursday, Feb. 13.  Maryland hosts Richmond Feb. 16 in its home opener.
