GREENSBORO, N.C. – Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the eighth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team was voted ACC Rookie of the Week Monday for the first time in her career.
Walker-Kimbrough came off the bench and provided Maryland (12-1) a huge spark while averaging 16.0 points in a 2-0 week for the Terrapins. The Aliquippa, Pa., native tied her career-high 17 points in a win over Wofford and 15 points in a win over the College of Charleston to help Maryland claim the Terrapin Classic. She shot over 55 percent from the field in both games and against the Terriers, she went 4-for-5 from outside the arc. For her efforts, Walker-Kimbrough was named to the Terrapin Classic All-Tournament Team.
She has scored in double figures in the last four straight games and 10 out of 13 this year. Walker-Kimbrough leads the ACC in three-point field goal percentage (.538) and is in the top 30 in scoring with 11.1 points per game.
The Terrapins are ranked No. 8 in the latest Associated Press and USA Today National Coaches polls.
