Brown, Robinson Take Home ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland senior quarterback C.J. Brown and junior linebacker Matt Robinson were honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday earning conference player of the week recognition. Brown was named ACC Co-Offensive Back of the Week, while Robinson was named ACC Linebacker of the Week.

Brown accounted for five Terrapin touchdowns in Maryland’s 41-21 win over NC State on Saturday rushing for three scores and passing for two. Robinson totaled a career-high 17 tackles including a personal-best 3.5 tackles for loss in the victory.

The senior QB spearheaded an offensive effort that saw the Terps total 432 yards of offense. Brown rushed for a season-high 138 yards and three touchdowns. His 138 rushing yards is the third-highest single-game total for a Maryland quarterback in school history and Brown became the first Maryland player to rush for three or more touchdowns since D.J. Adams had four against East Carolina in the Military Bowl on Dec. 29, 2010.

Through the air, Brown completed 13-of-25 passes for 259 yards and two scores including a 53-yard strike to sophomore wideout Nigel King for Maryland’s first touchdown of the game.

Defensively, Robinson finished with a game-high and career-best 17 tackles including a personal-best 3.5 for a loss. His 17 tackles is the second-highest single-game total for a Terrapin defender this season. The junior also added a half-sack and one pass break-up.

This season, Robinson averaged 7.8 tackles per game in conference action, which ranks eighth in the league.

Brown shared the weekly award with Duke’s Anthony Boone and Florida State’s Jameis Winston.
