COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior Alyssa Thomas of the No. 7 Maryland women’s basketball team was named ACC Player of the Week Monday for the 15th weekly conference honor in her career.
Thomas was the driving force as No. 7 Maryland went toe-to-toe with No. 1 Connecticut through the majority of their match-up in College Park, Md., on Nov. 15. Thomas started hot from the opening tip, scoring the Terrapins’ first seven points. The Harrisburg, Pa., native finished the game with a team-high 20 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and pulled down 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Thomas was named ACC Rookie of the Week seven times in the 2010-11 season and since then, has been voted Player of the Week eight times.
Maryland (2-1) will welcome crosstown opponent George Washington to Comcast Center Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. matchup. General admission tickets and select concessions are $1 for the game.

All fans are asked to bring a teddy bear to donate for the annual Teddy Bear Toss. All bears will be tossed onto the court at halftime and donated to the Johns Hopkins Childrens Unit. Bears can be registered at the marketing tables and if registered bears hit a target on the toss, fans win a prize.
The Terps-Colonials matchup will be shown live online for a fee on TerpsTV Premium.
After Tuesday’s tilt, the Terrapins will travel to Towson Saturday for an 8 p.m. game, before returning home to host Drexel Nov. 25.
