GREENSBORO, N.C. - Patrick Mullins and Dan Metzger were tabbed to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer First Team, announced by league officials Thursday.

In addition to Mullins and Metzger, Schillo Tshuma landed second team honors and Mikey Ambrose was named to the third team. Zack Steffen and Michael Sauers were both tabbed to the All-ACC Freshman Team.

Mullins, a senior from New Orleans and last year’s ACC Offensive Player of the Year, led the league in goals (14) and points (34) in 2013.  The defending MAC Hermann Trophy winner led the Terps to their second consecutive ACC regular season title.

Metzger – one of the top defensive midfielders in the country – was integral to Maryland’s success on both sides of the ball this season.  The Holmdel, N.J., product boasted two goals and an assist while helping the Terps to an 11-3-5 record through 19 games as a tri-captain.

Tshuma, a sophomore forward from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, was second on the squad with six goals and also added an assist. He notched both goals against then-No. 2 North Carolina in a pivotal early-season meeting.

Ambrose has served as the anchor of a very young backline in 2013.  The sophomore from El Paso, Texas, has started in 18 games and has also tallied four assists, including one against Duke in front of a Ludwig Field record 8,397 fans in early September.

Steffen has played every minute in goal for the Terps in 2013 and boasts 54 saves, including five each on the road at California, North Carolina and Notre Dame. The Downingtown, Pa., native notched a career-best seven stoppers against Old Dominion.

Sauers saw action in 17 games as a rookie, earning starts in 11. The midfielder from Glen Arm, Md., registered two goals and an assist in his first season in College Park. He recorded his first career goal in a 2-1 victory against Boston College Oct. 4.

Maryland – the top seed in the ACC tournament – will battle Clemson at 8 p.m. Friday in Germantown, Md., at the Maryland SoccerPlex. For information on tickets, please visit https://tickets.mdsoccerplex.org/?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=29700.
